| Jan
Baltzell teaches at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She received
her B.F.A. from Philadelphia College of Art, and M.F.A. from Miami University,
Oxford, Ohio. She has exhibited nationally, received fellowships from
the Vermont Studio Center and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and
has been an instructor or visiting professor at the Art Institute of Philadelphia,
Towson State University, and Drexel University, among others. Jan's painterly
abstractions display a master's control of contrasting markmaking that
transends the viewers conventional vocabulary. Her work is included in
the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the
Arts, Washington, D.C. |
